Letter From the Play Selection Committee

Dear Friends, Actors, Crew Members & Former Directors,

Elmira Little Theatre is currently seeking Directors for their 2011/2012 season. If you are interested in directing for ELT, you are cordially invited to participate in an "open reading" night of plays, one acts, and musicals to be considered for the season. Please join us on Monday, November 1stat 7pm and/or Sunday, November 14th at 4pm, at the ELT building.

We are currently looking for one smaller musical, one larger musical, and two straight plays or an evening of one acts.

Please bring excerpts/scenes/songs from plays or musicals you would be interested in directing, or come and hear some of the shows the play selection committee is considering and seeking directors for.

Scenes should be 5 to 10 minutes in length, and you should have enough copies of the scene for the number of actors in the scene. We would also like a synopsis of the show and a brief description of your personal concept for the piece. In order to present your scenes in the best possible light, please feel free to ask other actors to rehearse and prepare the scene(s), or we will all be available to cold read.

The "open reading" nights are a way for the "community" of our community theatre to get involved and energized for the next play season. Please come with an open mind and a creative spirit!

If you are interested in directing for ELT but cannot attend either of these gatherings, please let us know.

We look forward to creating with all of you! Please RSVP to this email with the date(s) you will be attending. Please list the shows you will be bringing to be considered, as well. (Please feel free to suggest more than one show, but we may not have time to read more than one selection, per potential director. Again, please be courteous to all by coming prepared and keeping the scenes short.)

Sincerely,

Elmira Little Theatre Play Selection Committee:

Meghan O'Toole Tuazon
